Privacy policy

This page says what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and who to write to.

What we collect

• The VIN you enter. Needed to decode the vehicle and build the report. Stored with your report so you can reopen it.
• Your e-mail address. Used to deliver the report, to contact you about your request, and to answer support e-mails. Stored with your report.
• Payment. Handled by our payment processor. We receive a confirmation and the last four digits of the card; we never see or store the full card number.
• Site analytics. First-party only: pages viewed, clicks, form submissions, referrer, device type and approximate location from the IP address, tied to a random visitor identifier stored in your browser. We use this to see what works on the site and to find broken pages. No third-party advertising trackers are loaded.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your data.
• We do not use your VIN or e-mail for anything other than your report and your support requests, unless you opt in to buying guides by e-mail.
• We do not share data with vehicle manufacturers, dealers, insurers or history-report companies.

Retention

Reports, VINs and e-mail addresses are kept for 12 months from purchase so the report link keeps working, then deleted unless you ask us to keep them. Analytics data is kept for 24 months.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent to e-mails at any time by writing to help@carhenry.com. Residents of California and other US states with privacy statutes, and residents of the EU, have additional rights under those laws which we honour on request.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser storage for the analytics visitor identifier and for remembering form state. No advertising cookies.
